About this position

DP-FOBI (Doctoral Programme for Advancing Forest-Based Bioeconomy) at the University of Eastern Finland is now accepting applications for PhD/doctoral researcher positions in an MSCA-funded, interdisciplinary doctoral training programme.

The programme recruits 15 doctoral candidates for 48 months of full-time employment and is designed for early-stage researchers interested in sustainable innovation in the forest-based bioeconomy. Research themes include forest inventory and ecosystem modelling, novel forest-based products, and market behaviour in bioeconomy. These themes connect environmental science, biology, agriculture/natural resource management, chemistry, economics, and business-related research.

DP-FOBI offers structured doctoral training in an international, interdisciplinary, and intersectoral environment. Candidates will join UEF’s Forests and Bioeconomy Research Community and may benefit from supervision teams, secondments, short visits to academic and non-academic partners, and training in scientific, transferable, and career-development skills.

Eligibility highlights: applicants must meet MSCA requirements, including international mobility rules. The recruitment process is open, transparent, and merit-based, with a single global call for applications.

Funding: the programme is funded through the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions COFUND.

Application window: June 11 to August 10, 2026.

Interested applicants should review the programme information and application instructions, prepare the required documents, and submit before the deadline.
