About this position

Two PhD student positions are available in Water Digital Twins at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, within the Water and Environmental Systems Analysis Lab (WESA). The positions are focused on research at the intersection of civil engineering, environmental engineering, hydrologic modeling, urban water infrastructure, and digital twin systems.

One position focuses on regional water resources systems, including interbasin water transfer, ensemble-based hydrologic modeling, forecast-informed reservoir operations, and environmental flow management. The other focuses on integrated digital twins of multiple urban water infrastructures in coastal regions, including stormwater drainage, rainwater harvesting, and wastewater reclamation systems.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a master’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field. Required technical experience includes configuration and calibration of HEC-HMS or similar models for one position, and SWMM or similar models for the other. Preferred experience includes ensemble-based precipitation or streamflow modeling, remote sensing for surface water/evapotranspiration/soil moisture, WebGIS portal development using ArcGIS Online or Mapbox, environmental or hydrologic fieldwork, and socio-environmental systems analysis.

Funding: both positions are fully funded for up to four years and are expected to begin in Spring 2027.

Application materials: CV/resume, statement of research experience and interest, examples of relevant research outputs (papers, manuscripts, presentations, thesis chapters, technical reports, etc.), and three references. Submit everything as a single PDF through the application link by 2026-09-15.

Institution: Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, USA.
