About this position

Two PhD student positions are available in Water Digital Twins at the Water and Environmental Systems Analysis Lab (WESA), Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in the United States.

The openings focus on research in civil engineering, environmental engineering, environmental science, earth science, and computational approaches for water systems. Position #1 centers on digital twins of regional water resources systems, including interbasin water transfer, ensemble-based hydrologic modeling, forecast-informed reservoir operations, and environmental flow management. Position #2 focuses on integrated digital twins of multiple urban water infrastructures in coastal regions, including stormwater drainage, rainwater harvesting, and wastewater reclamation systems.

Both positions are expected to start in Spring 2027 and are fully funded for up to four years. The post also notes a 20-hour-per-week appointment and commensurate/negotiable salary.

Required qualifications include a master’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field. Position #1 requires experience with configuration and calibration of HEC-HMS or similar models; Position #2 requires experience with configuration and calibration of SWMM or similar models. Preferred experience includes ensemble-based precipitation or streamflow modeling, remote sensing, WebGIS portal development using ArcGIS Online or Mapbox, environmental or hydrologic fieldwork, and socio-environmental systems analysis.

How to apply: submit a single PDF with your CV/resume, statement of research experience and interest, examples of relevant research products, and three references. Apply by 2026-09-15 through the Google Form link provided in the post.
