About this position

Applications are invited for a 3-year PhD Research Fellow position in molecular immunology at the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Oslo in Norway.

The project is titled “Modulation of adaptive immunity: Molecular drivers of T cell exhaustion”. The research focuses on how cytosolic adapter molecules, especially SH2D2A, regulate resting, activated, and experienced T cells, and how this relates to T cell exhaustion. The work includes mass spectrometry, proteomics, immunological methods, and genetic techniques.

This is a paid doctoral research fellowship leading to a PhD degree. The candidate must join the Faculty of Medicine’s approved PhD programme and, together with the supervisor, prepare a complete project description within 3 months after employment.

Eligibility highlights: a Master’s degree or equivalent in experimental life sciences (for example biology, chemistry, medicine, or similar); strong hands-on experience with mass spectrometry and immunological research; fluent English; and a strong academic record. Desired skills include flow cytometry, T-cell isolation, T-cell activation assays, immunoprecipitation, immunoblotting, PCR, DNA isolation, gene cloning, sequence analysis, mutagenesis, proteomics, recombinant protein production, and experience with mice/FELASA C approval.

Funding: salary is NOK 550,800–595,000 depending on competence and experience, plus standard pension contributions. The post is full-time and temporary for 3 years.

Application deadline: 31 August 2026. Apply via Jobbnorge and include a cover letter, CV, transcripts, degree diplomas, publication list, and 2–3 references. Foreign applicants should also attach an explanation of their grading system.
