About this position

PhD opening in AI-Powered Virtual Labs: Expanding Engineering Knowledge at the University of Innsbruck (Austria), supported by the FWF. Helpful additional experience includes LLMs, reinforcement learning, RLSF, code generation, evaluation, simulation tools, mechanics/dynamics, numerical modeling, data processing and automation, and high-performance computing.

Funding and duration: 3 years, 30 hours/week, with gross annual salary according to the Austrian National Science Fund (FWF) PhD salary scheme.

What's required

Solid engineering background with interest in multibody dynamics and numerical simulation. Experience in machine learning and strong Python programming skills are mandatory. Helpful but not mandatory: familiarity with LLMs and/or reinforcement learning, interest in RLSF, code generation and evaluation, experience with simulation tools and numerical modeling in mechanics and dynamics, motivation for data processing/curation/automation, and experience working with high-performance computing resources.
