to build a simulation-augmented engineering dataset and an autonomous virtual engineering lab.
You will join a research group with expertise in multibody dynamics, robotics, simulation software development, and AI/LLMs. The role is part of a two-researcher project and includes work across all work packages: data creation and evaluation, LLM fine-tuning with simulation feedback, and development of the virtual engineering lab. The position also involves contributing to publications, presentations, and the project’s dissemination and scientific network.
Required background:
a solid engineering background with interest in multibody dynamics and numerical simulation, plus experience in machine learning and strong Python programming skills. Helpful additional experience includes LLMs, reinforcement learning, RLSF, code generation, evaluation, simulation tools, mechanics/dynamics, numerical modeling, data processing and automation, and high-performance computing.
Funding and duration:
3 years, 30 hours/week, with gross annual salary according to the Austrian National Science Fund (FWF) PhD salary scheme.
