About this position

The University of Cádiz, Department of Neuroscience, is advertising a research position in omics approaches to neurodegeneration, with a strong focus on advanced molecular profiling and neurobiological analysis. The project context described in the posting refers to work on striatal interneurons in Huntington’s disease and the impact of partial reprogramming, indicating a highly specialised neuroscience and translational biology environment.

The successful candidate will contribute to the design and execution of single-nucleus RNA sequencing (snRNA-seq) and spatial transcriptomics experiments using post-mortem human brain tissue and animal models. The role also includes sample processing, bioinformatic analysis in R and/or Python, work with mouse models (including stereotaxy and behavioural studies), validation using molecular and cellular biology methods, manuscript preparation, and presentation of results at conferences. The post also involves technical coordination support and collaboration in the supervision of PhD, Master’s, and undergraduate students.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent in Health Sciences, Neuroscience, Biomedicine, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, or a related field. Prior experience in single-cell or spatial transcriptomics analysis, murine neurodegeneration models, or molecular/cellular neuroscience techniques is specifically valued. Experience with post-mortem human brain tissue is listed as an advantage. English at B2 level or above is required, and knowledge of Spanish is also required.

Application deadline: 26 October 2026 at 23:59 (Europe/Madrid). Applications must be submitted via the University of Cádiz online portal, with the required documents including ID/passport, degree or doctorate certificate, academic transcript, CV, evidence supporting CV merits, and the signed application form. The posting references Anexo 15 / Ref. 10/2026/15 for the formal application materials and additional job details.
