About this position
PhD opportunity: A fully funded PhD studentship in developing novel cardiac imaging technologies at Imperial College London, Faculty of Medicine, in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering.
The project is part of an EPSRC University Doctoral Landscape Award (UDLA) cohort focused on deep mapping of the myocardium at scale. The research will develop novel imaging technologies for mapping electrical activity in the heart muscle in vivo using ultrasound and allied technologies, with applications in guiding intervention for arrhythmia patients.
The student will work in a multidisciplinary environment with engineers, physicists, and clinicians (cardiologists), supervised by Prof. Fu Siong Ng, Prof. Mengxing Tang, Dr Johana Tonko, and Dr Carlos Cueto.
Funding: Fully funded PhD studentship. Includes a tax-free stipend at the UKRI rate of £23,805 per year, home tuition fees, a conference fund, and a research support and training grant. Funding lasts 3.5 years in total (3 years research + 6 months writing-up). International students are welcome but must cover the difference between home and overseas tuition fees.
Eligibility: Open to home and overseas students. Applicants should hold, or expect to receive, a first-class or good upper second-class Honours degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Physics, or a related field in healthcare technologies.
