The role offers advanced training in polymer chemistry, nanotechnology, and dynamic performance analysis.

Applicants should have, or expect to hold, a 1st or upper 2nd class MSc / MChem / BSc in chemistry, polymer science, or chemical engineering, with experience in chemical synthesis, analytical chemistry, and structure characterisation. Candidates with experience in elastomers, nanomaterials, rheology, or advanced materials characterisation are especially encouraged.

Funding: Sponsored project with stipend available for UK or international candidates. Duration: 3.5 years. Deadline: 30 September 2026. Start date: 1 November 2026.

What's required

Highly motivated candidate with, or expecting to hold, a 1st or upper 2nd class MSc, MChem, or BSc in chemistry, polymer science, or chemical engineering. Applicants should understand and have experience in chemical synthesis, analytical chemistry, and structure characterisation. Experience in chemistry, polymers, elastomers, nanomaterials, rheology, or advanced materials characterisation is particularly encouraged. Strong time-management, organisational skills, teamwork, reliability with deadlines, and excellent academic writing, communication, and presentation skills are desirable.
