Mississippi State University’s Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering is opening PhD/Master’s graduate research assistant positions in the Pathak Precision Agriculture Laboratory (PPAL), starting Spring 2027.

The lab focuses on intelligent agricultural systems and precision agriculture, combining biophysical modeling, remote sensing, IoT, machine learning, robotics, and reinforcement learning to build digital twins of farming systems and support sustainable crop production.

This opportunity is based at Mississippi State University in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering. The post is shared by Harsh Pathak, who is joining MSU as a tenure-track Assistant Professor and will lead the lab.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should have a B.S. or M.S. in Agricultural Engineering, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field. International applicants must meet English-language requirements with either a TOEFL iBT 79 or IELTS 6.5. Strong programming skills in Python or MATLAB, experience with C/C++, prior scientific communication experience, and interest in precision agriculture, IoT, ML, or robotics are emphasized. A valid U.S. driving license is required or must be obtained within the first semester.
