Post-doc Research Grant in Organic Electronics at Instituto de Telecomunicações, Lisbon

An open call is available for one post-doctoral research grant within the HELPOS project (B-0098-26) at the Instituto de Telecomunicações, based at Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon, Portugal. The work is hosted in the Basic Sciences and Enabling Technologies area, within the Organic Electronics group, under the supervision of Professor Ana Maria de Matos Charas.

The research project focuses on the design, synthesis, characterization, and integration into solar cells of photoactive organic materials with intrinsic self-healing capabilities. The aim is to develop more sustainable, durable, and cost-effective solar energy technologies. The specific scientific emphasis is on novel organic dyes and conjugated polymers that combine efficient light absorption, charge-transport properties, and dynamic reversible intermolecular interactions.

This opportunity is supported by FCT through the PTDC program and related COMPETE2030-FEDER funding. The grant offers a monthly salary of 1901,00€ and runs for 6 months initially, with the possibility of renewal up to a maximum total duration of 3 years.

Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent and have strong expertise in organic synthesis of π-conjugated systems, including work under inert conditions. Experience in photophysical and electrochemical characterization of organic chromophores is required, as well as practical experience in solar device fabrication and electrical characterization. Experience in mentoring or co-supervising younger researchers is considered an advantage.

The application requires a motivation letter, curriculum vitae, degree certificates, and any other supporting documents requested by the call. Applications must be submitted online via the Instituto de Telecomunicações portal. The deadline is 21 October 2026.
