About this position
The Guarantors of Brain are inviting applications for their 2027 Fellowships in the UK, supporting research and clinical academic training in neuroscience, clinical neuroscience, neurology, neurosurgery, neurophysiology, and neuropsychiatry.
Three fellowship routes are advertised:
Entry clinical fellowships (up to 12 months) for early career clinicians in the UK who are moving toward a higher degree or research fellowship. These awards provide bridging salary support and are intended to support transition into clinical academia.
Post-doctoral clinical fellowships (up to 12 months) for early/mid-career clinicians in the UK after completion of a PhD or research MD. Applicants must have submitted their PhD thesis by interview time and show added value and new research.
Non-clinical post-doctoral fellowships (up to 36 months) for non-clinical researchers working in a translational neuroscience setting in the UK. These fellowships support basic scientists bringing their work into clinically relevant neuroscience problems.
Funding: clinical fellowships cover full-time basic clinical salary, including superannuation, national insurance, and London weighting. Non-clinical fellowships provide salary support up to £70,000 per year; consumables and travel are not covered.
Eligibility highlights: UK-based applicants only; specialist training or postdoctoral experience requirements vary by scheme; non-clinical applicants must be within 8 years of PhD and have at least 2 years of postdoctoral study. The non-clinical scheme is not open to clinically qualified researchers.
Deadline: 17:00 on 27 October 2026. Shortlisted candidates will be notified in late December 2026, and interviews will be held in London on 22 January 2027. Project start dates must be on or after 1 April 2027.
How to apply: Prepare the required CV, research outline, career statement, supervisor support letter, head of department/institution support letter, and financial summary. Upload PDFs without restricted permissions or passwords.
