About this position
The Carll Laboratory at the University of Louisville is hiring a Post-Doctoral Researcher in Cardiac Pathophysiology focused on how environmental stressors affect cardiovascular function. The project examines the impacts of e-cigarettes, extreme heat, and air pollutants on cardiac conduction, contraction, and structure using in vivo mouse models.
The lab’s NIH-funded research investigates how vaping impairs cardiovascular function and how chemical additives, user age, autonomic reflexes, diet, life stage, underlying disease, and genetics influence susceptibility. The team analyzes ECG, blood pressure, echocardiography, and plethysmography data, and performs environmentally relevant exposures in mouse models. The broader program also studies arrhythmias, sudden cardiac death, and the role of the autonomic nervous system, with translational human studies to strengthen the impact of the work.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. or equivalent in physiology, toxicology, pharmacology, environmental health, or a closely related field. Experience with in vivo, ex vivo, and/or in vitro cardiovascular models is required, along with a strong publication record and motivation. Preferred experience includes physiology, large datasets, animal research, statistics, and molecular techniques such as Western blotting, ELISA, and qRT-PCR.
This is an NIH-funded postdoctoral position with salary guided by NIH postdoc salary guidelines. Interested candidates should email a cover letter, CV, and three references to [email protected]. More details are available on the lab website and linked post.
