About this position

LUT University is recruiting a post-doctoral researcher in Construction Business to join LUT Civil Engineering at the Lahti campus in Finland. The position sits within the Construction Business research group in the LUT School of Energy Systems and focuses on how the green transition and digital twin transition are reshaping society and business in the real estate and construction sector.

The role is well suited to a researcher interested in business model transformation, digitalisation in construction, and transdisciplinary work at the intersection of engineering, business, and sustainability. Potential research topics include data interoperability, material passports, digital twins, and data-driven decision support. The appointee will contribute to publishing research results, preparing research funding proposals, collaborating with national and international partners, and taking part in research meetings, conferences, and seminars. There may also be opportunities to supervise bachelor’s and master’s theses and contribute to teaching.

The position requires a doctoral degree in a relevant field, independent scientific ability, and teaching skills. Strong research experience and publications in the built environment context are essential. Applicants with experience in developing or applying digital methods in construction are especially encouraged to apply. The university is looking for someone with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, clear communication, and the ability to work effectively in an international research environment. Excellent written and spoken English is required; Finnish language skills are considered an advantage.

This is a non-tenure-track appointment initially for two years, including a six-month trial period, with possible extension by up to two additional years depending on performance and progress. The post is based at LUT’s Lahti campus and offers a hybrid work model with regular on-campus presence. The position starts as soon as possible, preferably in November 2026, with a negotiable start date.

The salary is set according to the Finnish university pay system for teaching and research staff at requirement levels 5–6, with a starting salary of approximately EUR 4,300–5,000 per month depending on experience. Applications must be submitted through the online recruitment system by 2026-10-04 at 23:59 Finnish local time. Required application documents include a one-page motivation letter, CV following Finnish Advisory Board on Research Integrity guidelines, doctoral degree certificate (with certified translation if needed), publication list, summary of teaching merits, and contact details for two references. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and only applications submitted through the online system will be considered.
