About this position
Postdoctoral position at Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden
This postdoc is in Electrical Engineering with a strong focus on electric power engineering, electric machines, power electronics, and magnetic loss measurement in soft magnetic materials. The project aims to improve loss prediction for electrical machines by developing reconfigurable converter emulators and upgrading existing test rigs so that real PWM supply conditions can be emulated during electrical steel testing.
The research is hosted by the Division of Electric Power Engineering, Department of Electrical Engineering, at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden. The group works on power systems, power electronics, electric machines, and high-voltage engineering, with a strong experimental and theoretical research environment.
Eligibility highlights: a doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or an equivalent subject; strong English communication skills; experience with soft magnetic material testing and magnetic field/flux characterization; modelling skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively. Experience with test equipment development is a merit. Some Swedish is an advantage, and willingness to learn Swedish is required.
What the post offers: a two-year full-time temporary employment with a possible one-year extension, access to Chalmers employee benefits, opportunities to publish in journals and conferences, supervise students to some extent, and engage in teaching. The role requires physical presence throughout the employment.
Application: submit the application in English as PDF files via the online application form. Include a CV with publications, teaching/pedagogical experience, and a personal letter describing your research background and future goals. The deadline is 2026-11-06.

Temporary full-time postdoctoral employment for two years with the possibility of a one-year extension. Standard employee benefits at Chalmers are offered; no stipend amount is stated.
What's required
A doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or an equivalent subject is required by the employment decision date. Applicants should have strong written and verbal English skills, experience in testing soft magnetic materials for loss determination and magnetic field versus magnetic flux properties, and theory/modelling skills in the subject. Ability to drive the project independently is important, while cooperation with other researchers is required. Experience developing test equipment for soft magnetic materials is a merit. Some Swedish language ability is an advantage, and an interest in learning Swedish is a prerequisite. The post is also expected to suit someone with some teaching experience and good potential in research and education.
How to apply
Apply through the application form on the vacancy page using the button at the bottom of the page. Submit the application in English as PDF files, including a CV with publications, details of teaching/pedagogical experience, and a personal letter with research background and future goals. Do not send applications by email; incomplete applications will not be considered.
