The project progresses from controlled laboratory systems to industrially relevant black masses from battery recycling, and includes collaboration with two industrial partners plus a research stay of up to three months at a collaborating university in Finland.

Eligibility: a PhD degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Process Engineering, Data Science, or a related field is required by the time of employment decision. Applicants who earned the PhD within the last three years are primarily considered. Very good oral and written English is required. Strong collaboration skills, independence, and scientific quality are emphasized.

Desirable experience: machine learning or data-driven modelling, Python, mechanistic or kinetic modelling, hydrometallurgical leaching, electrochemistry, reaction kinetics, real-time process monitoring, multi-component chemical systems, battery materials, and analytical methods such as ICP-OES/ICP-MS, XRD, or SEM-EDS.
