About this position
The AICell Lab at KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Science for Life Laboratory is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher in AI modeling for cell biology as part of the AlphaCell initiative. AlphaCell is a new SciLifeLab program aiming to build the first molecular-level computational model of the human cell, bringing together researchers and infrastructure units across multiple institutions.
The postdoc will be embedded in the AICell Lab in the Department of Applied Physics at KTH and in SciLifeLab. The lab, led by Wei Ouyang, develops next-generation AI systems for cell and molecular biology. The successful candidate will also collaborate closely with Avlant Nilsson's cancer cell modeling lab at Karolinska Institutet and SciLifeLab, as well as with the data team at the Human Protein Atlas.
This role is especially suitable for candidates interested in the intersection of cell biology, biological modelling, computational biology, bioinformatics, machine learning, and deep learning. The position emphasizes analysis of biological datasets, especially imaging data and multimodal data that combine imaging and molecular measurements. Experience with modern frameworks such as PyTorch or JAX, along with strong software engineering practices, is highly valued.
Eligibility: Applicants must hold a doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree by the time the employment decision is made. The preferred profile includes a PhD obtained within the last three years, strong grounding in biological systems, demonstrated interest in cell biology, experience with biological data interpretation, and the ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams.
Employment and funding: The position is a full-time temporary postdoctoral appointment for up to two years and is funded through the Data-driven Life Science Fellows (DDLS) program. Salary is monthly.
Application: Candidates must apply through KTH's recruitment system and include a CV, copies of diplomas and grades, translations if needed, and a brief statement of motivation and academic interests (maximum two pages). The deadline is 2026-08-03.
KTH is a leading international technical university in Stockholm, Sweden, offering a creative research environment and strong support for equality, diversity, and equal opportunities.
