About this position

SciLifeLab is advertising three postdoctoral openings under the new Alpha Cell program, a flagship initiative aimed at building the first molecular-level computational model of the human cell. The research spans deep learning, computational biology, bioinformatics, multimodal biological data, imaging, transcriptomics, proteomics, spatial omics, and scalable data infrastructure for AI-ready biological datasets.

Eligibility generally requires a PhD or equivalent degree by the employment decision date. Depending on the specific post, applicants should have a background in bioinformatics, computational biology, cell biology, physics, systems biology, applied mathematics, machine learning, or related quantitative fields. Strong programming skills, experience with modern ML frameworks or bioinformatic tools, and the ability to work in interdisciplinary teams are emphasized. For some roles, experience with large heterogeneous datasets, APIs/data services, physics-informed ML, dynamical systems, or open data platforms is preferred.

Funding and terms: these are full-time, temporary postdoctoral appointments for up to two years. Salary is monthly; no stipend amount is stated. The KI-based role mentions access to state-of-the-art computational infrastructure, including the Berzelius supercomputer.
