About this position
The University of Amsterdam is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher for a project on assessing nascent sustainable technologies amidst high uncertainty. The position sits in the Faculty of Economics and Business, primarily within the Strategy and International Business section at the Amsterdam Business School, with a strong secondary affiliation to the Microeconomics section at the Amsterdam School of Economics.
The postdoc will work on the interdisciplinary SUSGREEN project, which focuses on sustainable fuels from carbon dioxide using integrated green technologies and the broader social and market implications of emerging sustainable energy technologies. The research agenda includes social impact mapping, stakeholder valuation, social evaluations, anticipation of stakeholder reactions, and willingness-to-pay for sustainable fuel variants.
This role is especially relevant for candidates interested in sustainability transitions, sustainable energy, environmental/behavioral economics, business, organization studies, science and technology studies, and related social-science approaches to innovation under uncertainty. The postdoc will collaborate with researchers in the Faculty of Science and with industry partners, and will contribute to project deliverables, workshops, stakeholder sessions, and joint publications in high-quality international journals.
The appointment is full-time for 15 months. Salary is €3,546–€5,538 gross per month for 38 hours per week, excluding holiday allowance and year-end bonus. The UvA also offers pension accrual, commuting reimbursement, study and development opportunities, and other fringe benefits.
Eligibility highlights: a completed PhD degree or near completion in a relevant field; excellent English; experience with qualitative research and/or experimental methods; interest in scenario-based analysis under uncertainty; and an affinity with sustainability transitions or sustainable energy.
