About this position

Postdoc opportunity at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in the Faculty of Technology, Policy & Management, focused on Bayesian statistics, medical devices, clinical evidence, real-world evidence, and regulatory decision-making.

The project is part of the European COMPASS4MD consortium (Horizon Europe) and aims to develop Bayesian methodology for bridging studies that predict the performance of new implantable medical device variants using historical data, benchmark tests, literature, and real-world evidence. The work also connects to the idea of a digital twin for medical device safety and evidence generation.

Applicants should have a methodologically oriented PhD in a relevant area such as Epidemiology, Health Sciences, Technical Medicine, Medical Statistics, Data Science, Safety Science, or Biomedical Engineering. Strong experience in Bayesian inference/networks, statistics and probability, academic writing, and presentation is expected. English proficiency is required; Dutch is optional but preferred.

The position is 3 years, temporary, 36–40 hours per week, with salary and benefits according to the Dutch university collective agreement. The salary range listed is €3706–€5760. The project is EU-funded, but this is a postdoc job rather than a scholarship.

Apply online by 1 November 2026. Submit a CV, a one-page cover letter, and a writing sample. The contact person is Dr. Amir Pooyan Afghari at TU Delft.
