About this position
Postdoctoral position in boundary-layer and mesoscale meteorology at the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences in China.
The project covers several research directions: boundary-layer thermodynamic and dynamic parameter retrieval; multi-source data assimilation; boundary-layer and convection parameterization; and mesoscale meteorology, including heavy precipitation, severe convection, damaging winds, and the physical mechanisms behind their development and evolution.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in atmospheric science or a closely related field, be no older than 35, be in good health, and have strong programming skills. Experience with Python, MATLAB, or NCL, high-performance computing, AI, machine learning, numerical weather prediction, data assimilation, high-resolution modeling, multi-source atmospheric observations, or UAV-based meteorological measurements is an advantage. Good English skills are required, and first-author papers in high-quality journals are preferred.
Funding and benefits include position- and performance-based compensation under CAMS regulations, postdoc apartments or a housing allowance for eligible researchers, household-registration relocation support, and a one-time pre-tax award of RMB 200,000 for postdocs who complete the appointment on schedule and receive an Excellent final assessment.
Applications are accepted throughout 2026 and remain open until all positions are filled. Interested candidates should contact Prof. Jianping Guo at [email protected] for more information.
