About this position

Postdoc in cancer systems biology at Linköping University, Sweden

This postdoctoral opening is in the Division of Surgery, Oncology, and Orthopaedics (KOO), Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences (BKV), Faculty of Medicine, Linköping University. The project sits at the interface of cancer biology, immuno-oncology, systems biology, bioinformatics, and artificial intelligence, with a strong focus on metastatic progression, treatment resistance, and precision oncology.

The recruited postdoc will analyze multimodal biomedical data from pancreatic cancer and other aggressive tumor types, integrating clinical data, molecular profiles, tissue, blood, and pre-metastatic organ data to build predictive models and advanced virtual human twins. Methods mentioned include statistical modelling, machine learning, mechanistic modelling, and analysis of omics and other large-scale biomedical datasets.

The position is hosted in Bojmar’s research group in collaboration with the Department of Biomedical Engineering (IMT). The role includes research, scientific writing, publishing, conference presentations, and supervision of undergraduate and graduate students. Teaching may be included up to 20% of working time.

Eligibility requires a doctoral degree or equivalent, awarded no more than three years before the deadline unless special grounds apply, and the PhD must be from a university other than Linköping University. Preferred backgrounds include systems biology, bioinformatics, data science, computational biology, or closely related fields. Strong English skills, programming experience in Python or R, and experience with cancer biology or immuno-oncology are advantageous.

The appointment is full-time and fixed-term for three years. It is funded by the Högbom-Cocozza Research Foundation, with a salary of SEK 43,000 per month. The foundation may also fund a 6–12 month research stay abroad and an independent research grant of about SEK 500,000 before the third year.

Application deadline: 30 November 2026. Apply via the university’s online portal and submit selected publications and other required documents before the deadline.
