About this position

The University of Copenhagen is recruiting a Postdoc in Central Control of Energy Homeostasis at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR), within the Pers Group. This is a 2-year full-time postdoctoral fellowship starting on 2026-11-15 or by agreement.

The project sits at the intersection of neuroscience, biological sciences, cardiometabolic research, and transcriptomics. The successful candidate will investigate a previously uncharacterised neuronal population involved in the central control of energy homeostasis using stereotactic viral injections, in vivo fiber photometry, mono- and polysynaptic tracing, and integration with single-cell and spatial transcriptomic datasets. The work is embedded in an interdisciplinary, international environment with collaborators in the US, UK, Switzerland, and Denmark.

Applicants should have a PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Molecular Biomedicine, Neuroscience, or a related field, plus strong publication record and hands-on experience with rodent models, transgenic Cre-driver lines, Cre-dependent viral strategies, stereotactic surgery, DREADDs and/or optogenetics, and neuroanatomical tracing. Strong English communication skills and the ability to thrive in a collaborative team are required.

Eligibility is restricted to applicants with a PhD from outside Denmark, or Danish PhD holders with at least 12 months of full-time research experience outside Denmark. The PhD must be completed before the start date. Salary, pension, and employment terms follow Danish university agreements, with possible supplements depending on qualifications.

Apply online in English via the application portal. Prepare a cover letter, CV, degree certificates (or supervisor confirmation if the PhD is pending), publication list, and at least two references. Deadline: 2026-08-24.

Funding details

Full funding including tuition fees and living expenses is available for this position. The scholarship covers all educational costs and provides a monthly stipend.
