About this position

Postdoctoral Researcher opportunity at the University of Zurich in the Laboratory for Molecular Neuro-Oncology / Department for Neurology, working on next-generation CAR immune cell therapies against malignant brain tumors.

This is an ERC-funded, fully funded postdoctoral position starting September 1, 2026, or by arrangement. The project is highly interdisciplinary and combines cancer immunology, neuroscience, cell biology, bioengineering, and advanced translational research.

The research aims to develop multifunctional, multi-immune-cell strategies, including engineered T cells, NK cells, monocytes, and additional cell types. The work will use sophisticated in vitro and in vivo engineering platforms, disease models such as organoids, slice cultures, patient-derived samples, and mouse models, plus modern technologies including flow cytometry, multiplexed imaging, spatial transcriptomics/proteomics, and single-cell profiling.

The successful candidate will also analyze patient samples from an accompanying clinical trial evaluating CAR immune cell communities. The lab highlights a strong track record in translational innovation and offers mentorship, collaborative research, and opportunities for academic or entrepreneurial career paths.

Eligibility highlights: PhD in immunology, computational immunology, cell/molecular/cancer biology, bioengineering, biomedical sciences, or a related field; experience with immune cell engineering, cellular immunotherapy, and/or advanced disease models is highly desirable; familiarity with single-cell or spatial technologies is a plus; strong publication record and excellent communication skills are expected.
