About this position

DTU Construct at the Technical University of Denmark is advertising a postdoc in chemistry within the iMAT group, Section for Materials and Surface Engineering, in Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark.

The project is DFF-funded and focuses on developing sustainable, nature-inspired multifunctional materials for CO2 capture, energy storage, and smart construction applications. The role sits at the intersection of organic synthesis, inorganic synthesis, electrochemistry, and materials characterization.

Responsibilities include designing and carrying out syntheses, developing electrochemical experiments, characterizing compounds and materials, analyzing data, documenting results, collaborating across disciplines, and contributing to publications and project deliverables. The postdoc will also help supervise and mentor bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD students.

Eligibility highlights: applicants must hold a PhD degree or equivalent in chemistry, materials science, engineering, or a related field. Strong hands-on experience in organic and/or inorganic synthesis is required, together with practical electrochemistry experience (for example cyclic voltammetry, impedance spectroscopy, and electrode preparation). Experience with analytical methods such as NMR, XPS, FTIR, UV-Vis, and XRD is expected. Strong English communication and academic writing skills are important; AI/data-driven chemistry experience is an advantage.
