About this position
Postdoc in Creative Electrosynthesis Reactions at DTU Physics, Technical University of Denmark, in Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark.
This postdoc is part of the CAPeX center and the SurfCat section at DTU Physics, with a strong focus on electrosynthesis, electrocatalysis, surface science, and catalyst development for sustainable energy technologies. The project is intentionally open-ended and seeks a candidate with an original idea for a new electrosynthesis reaction beyond the standard electrochemical systems. The work is experimental and will involve collaboration with computational chemists.
Research activities include characterizing and testing electrocatalysts for electrosynthetic reactions in aqueous or non-aqueous solvents, potentially at elevated temperatures and pressures. Available techniques and infrastructure include gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, HPLC, NMR, XPS, XRD, electron microscopy, surface-enhanced FTIR, electrochemical mass spectrometry, sputtering, wet chemical nanoparticle synthesis, gloveboxes, and synchrotron-based analysis. The role may also involve teaching, supervising Bachelor/Master thesis projects, and proposal writing.
Eligibility: applicants must hold a PhD degree (or expect to have one by the start date), preferably in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. Strong experimental experience in electrocatalytic techniques and reactions is required; experience with analytical and characterization tools and basic Python skills are advantageous.
Funding and terms: this is a 2-year postdoc appointment under the Danish collective agreement, with salary supplements negotiable. No stipend amount is listed.
Deadline: applications must be submitted online no later than 2026-11-20. The application must be uploaded as one PDF in English containing a cover letter, CV, academic diplomas, and publication list.
