About this position

The University of Luxembourg is seeking a postdoctoral researcher for the CryptoLux team, led by Professor Alex Biryukov, within the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT). The successful candidate will contribute to the 'Advanced Cryptography for Finance and Privacy (CryptoFin)' project, funded by the Fonds National de la Recherche (FNR) through the CORE program.

The research focuses on advanced cryptography applications in finance and privacy, including areas such as applied and symmetric cryptography, cryptofinance, cryptoeconomics, blockchains, and online anonymity. The postdoc will conduct, publish, and present research results at conferences, provide guidance to two PhD students, and help attract funding in collaboration with academic and industrial partners. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field, with a strong record in applied cryptography or information security (including at least one publication in a top-tier conference).

Strong mathematical and algorithmic skills, programming proficiency, and fluency in English are required. Experience in economics or finance is a plus. The position offers a fixed-term contract for 18 months, with a yearly gross salary of EUR 83,099.

The University of Luxembourg provides a modern, international, and inclusive research environment, with high-quality equipment and strong ties to industry and European institutions. Applications must be submitted online, including a cover letter, CV, details of open-source contributions or competitions, and contact information for three referees.

Early applications are encouraged as review is ongoing. The university values diversity and encourages applications from all backgrounds.
