About this position
Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden, invites applications for a Postdoctoral position in the doping of conjugated polymers for organic electronics. The successful candidate will join the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, working within the Müller Research Group, which specializes in the physical chemistry and materials science of organic semiconductors, polymer blends, and composites. The group is actively developing new plastic materials for applications in wearable electronics and energy technology, collaborating with universities, institutes, and industry partners.
The research project centers on the characterization of doped conjugated polymers, targeting their electrical and mechanical properties for use in wearable electronics and bioelectronics. The postdoc will work closely with PhD students and other postdocs, and will have opportunities to collaborate with external labs. The project aims to advance understanding of these materials, contributing to the broader field of organic electronics. The position is embedded in a dynamic, interdisciplinary team, offering a stimulating environment for research and professional development.
Applicants must hold a doctoral degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science, completed by the time of employment decision. Essential qualifications include excellent English communication skills, a strong publication record, and significant experience in processing and structural, electrical, or mechanical characterization of conjugated polymers. Experience with doping of organic semiconductors and a doctoral degree obtained within the last three years are considered advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate strong collaboration skills and be prepared for physical presence in Gothenburg throughout the employment period. A valid residence permit is required by the start date.
The position offers full-time temporary employment for up to two years, with the possibility of extension by one year if project funding is available. The monthly salary is approximately 40,000 SEK before tax (€3,700), and includes comprehensive employee benefits such as healthcare, parental leave, subsidized day care, and free schools. Chalmers provides a supportive environment, including Swedish language courses for non-native speakers, and actively promotes gender balance and diversity through initiatives like GENIE.
To apply, candidates should prepare their application in English, attaching PDF files including a comprehensive CV with publication list, a personal letter, a summary of research experience and outcomes, future goals, and a copy of their PhD thesis. Applications must be submitted via the provided application form; incomplete applications and those sent by email will not be considered. The deadline for applications is 30 April 2026, but evaluations will be conducted continuously, so early submission is encouraged. For further information, contact Professor Christian Müller at [email protected].
