PhD in Materials Chemistry of Doped Organic Semiconductors (FADOS) Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden

Chalmers University of Technology is recruiting a doctoral student in Materials Chemistry of Doped Organic Semiconductors within the European Marie Skłodowska-Curie training network FADOS (Fundamentals and Applications of Doped Organic Semiconductors).

The position is based in the Christian Müller research group at the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering in Gothenburg, Sweden. The project focuses on how doping gradients can be used for spatial modulation of the electrical and mechanical properties of organic semiconductors. You will work in an international cohort across Europe and collaborate with researchers in the FADOS network.

Research themes and keywords include chemistry, materials science, organic electronics, polymer science, and chemical engineering. The Müller group works on the physical chemistry and materials science of organic semiconductors, polymer blends and composites, and new plastic materials for wearable electronics and energy technologies.

The FADOS network offers training at the forefront of research and innovation in organic electronics, with a balanced secondment plan, network-wide events, and exposure to academic and commercial environments. The role includes secondments in Spain, Germany and the US, and travel to several EU countries.

Eligibility highlights: applicants must hold a master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science (or be close to completion), have experience with organic electronics and/or polymer science, be in the first four years of their research career, and not yet hold a doctoral degree. The mobility rule requires that the applicant has not lived or carried out their main activity in Sweden for more than 12 months in the three years before recruitment. Very good English communication skills and willingness to travel are required.

Funding: the doctoral student position is fully funded from the start. The appointment is for four years of full-time research studies and includes a starting salary of 34,550 SEK per month (about 3,100 Euros), plus living, mobility, and family allowances where applicable under MSCA rules.
