Description
This postdoctoral position at Eindhoven University of Technology focuses on the estimation and control of large-scale dynamical systems to enhance the resilience of future energy systems, particularly those integrating up to 100% renewable energy sources. The successful candidate will join the Dynamics and Control section within the Department of Mechanical Engineering, working under the supervision of Dr.
Michelle Chong on the EU-wide ProRES project. The research aims to develop resource-aware control and state/parameter estimation algorithms capable of managing corrupted measurement data, communication constraints, and modeling uncertainties in energy systems. The project addresses vulnerabilities in energy networks, such as extreme weather, congestion, local voltage issues, and cyber-attacks, with the goal of improving flexibility and stability.
The position offers full-time employment for two years, a competitive salary (scale 10), bonuses, and various allowances. The university provides a dynamic, interdisciplinary, and international research environment, with access to high-quality training, technical infrastructure, and support for international staff. Applicants should have a PhD in systems and control, strong expertise in nonlinear and hybrid dynamical systems, control, and optimization, and proficiency in Matlab or Python.
Experience in the energy domain is preferred but not required. The position is open to candidates ready to start from January 2026 or soon after. Applications must be submitted online and include a CV, publication list, references, and a statement of interest.
Screening will continue until the position is filled.
