About this position

Postdoc opportunity at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in system engineering for floating offshore wind farms.

This postdoctoral research position is part of the Dutch-funded HybridLabs project and focuses on floating offshore wind energy, multi-disciplinary design analysis and optimisation (MDAO), and the supply chain readiness needed for large-scale deployment of floating wind farms. The work combines development and dissemination of MDAO software with applied research on logistical aspects, technical and monetary risks, and schedule-risk mitigation across different regions.

You will work within the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering at TU Delft and collaborate with researchers from TU Delft and other institutions in the HybridLabs framework, as well as with companies and stakeholders in the European offshore wind ecosystem. The role is highly multidisciplinary and suited to candidates interested in renewable energy systems, optimisation, scientific computing, and open-source software development.

Research themes and keywords: floating offshore wind energy, system engineering, MDAO, supply chain modelling, optimisation, scientific computing, Python, git, FAIR/open-source software, logistics, and renewable energy transition.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should have a PhD in system engineering, applied sciences, wind energy, or a related field; strong knowledge of MDAO; programming and version-control skills; and good English communication. Experience with offshore/floating wind supply chains and collaboration across institutions is a plus.

Funding and conditions: this is a salaried postdoc appointment for 2 years, full-time (38–40 hours/week), with salary and benefits according to the Dutch universities collective agreement. The posting lists a salary range of €3706–€5760 and includes pension, leave, training, and other employment benefits.

Application window: apply online by 15 November 2026. Submit a CV and motivational letter through the application button; applications by email or post will not be processed.

Contact: Prof. Axelle Viré ([email protected]).
