About this position
Postdoc in EV Charging Flexibility and Renewable Energy Integration at DTU Wind and Energy Systems, Technical University of Denmark, Roskilde, Denmark.
This 2-year postdoctoral position is part of the European project AHEAD (AI-informed Holistic Electric Vehicles Integration Approaches for Distribution Grids), involving 21 partners across 11 countries. The project focuses on electric vehicle charging flexibility, smart charging, renewable energy integration, distribution grids, and AI-informed optimization for charging infrastructure.
The successful candidate will work on modeling the flexibility potential of public and private EV charging hubs, including light- and heavy-duty vehicles; investigating synergies between EV charging and distributed renewable generation; assessing impacts on the power system; contributing to optimal siting of charging infrastructure; and evaluating innovative charging technologies such as wireless and battery-buffered fast charging.
The role is embedded in the Section on E-Mobility and Prosumer Integration within the Division of Power and Energy Systems. The team works on EV technologies, charging infrastructure, flexibility and integration of prosumers, advanced power electronics, and hybrid AC-DC systems.
Eligibility highlights: PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field with an energy systems focus; strong data analysis, visualization, and applied statistics; knowledge of EV technologies; MATLAB and/or Python; experience in supervision and teaching; and strong English communication skills. Preferred experience includes dynamic modeling, simulation, model predictive control, machine learning, reinforcement learning, IoT, edge computing, cloud integration, and research proposal writing.
Funding and terms: full-time appointment for 2 years under Danish collective agreement terms; salary supplements may be negotiated. Preferred start date is 1 November 2026 or by mutual agreement.
