About this position

Postdoc in Experimental Quantum Optics at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen (Denmark).

This postdoctoral opening is part of the experimental quantum photonics group and the Center for Hybrid Quantum Networks (Hy-Q), headed by Prof. Peter Lodahl and Prof. Anders S. Sørensen. The project focuses on experimental quantum optics, including developing a novel type of quantum gates between ground-state spins in nearby quantum dots. The broader research environment covers quantum photonic nanostructures, deterministic photon sources, single-photon and multi-photon entanglement sources, coupled quantum emitters, quantum communication, and photonic quantum computing.

Hy-Q is a center of excellence funded by the Danish National Research Foundation and brings together experimental and theoretical work in optomechanics, single-photon emitters, and nanophotonics. The center has around 50 researchers and offers a collaborative environment with close daily interaction.

Eligibility / requirements: Applicants should hold a Master and PhD degree or equivalent. The application must include a CV, diplomas, a research plan, a complete publication list, and 3 relevant paper reprints. The postdoc may also take on the daily supervision of PhD students joining the project later.

Funding / terms: The position is a 2-year full-time appointment. Salary is according to Danish academic agreements; a salary supplement may be negotiated. No specific stipend amount is listed.

Deadline: 8 November 2026, 23:59 GMT+1.
