About this position

This postdoctoral position at Chalmers University of Technology offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in far-infrared semiconductor electronics. The role is based in the Division of Terahertz and Millimetre Wave, Department of Microtechnology and Nanoscience, renowned for advancing quantum technology, nanoscience, photonics, and future electronic systems. The ERC-funded project focuses on developing semiconductor terahertz electronics for far-infrared space instruments, aiming to achieve high receiver sensitivity and stability with significantly lower power consumption in the 2-5 THz frequency range. The research supports future atmospheric science missions requiring FIR/THz heterodyne receiver solutions. The successful candidate will demonstrate semiconductor-based antenna-integrated receivers for the far-infrared region and supervise master’s and/or PhD students, with opportunities to engage in teaching at undergraduate and master’s levels.

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree or equivalent foreign degree, with strong written and verbal English communication skills and experience in terahertz technology, including experimental characterisation techniques. Additional qualifications such as a recent doctoral degree (within the last three years), experience in antenna theory and design, and semiconductor device technology will strengthen the application. Teaching experience and demonstrated research potential are expected. The position is a full-time, temporary employment for two years, with the possibility of a one-year extension. Physical presence is required throughout the employment, and a valid residence permit must be presented by the start date.
