About this position
Postdoctoral opportunity at the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres for a project on the development of a Ferroelectric Fast-Reactive Tuner (FE-FRT) for RF cavities. The work is based in the Science and Technology of Accelerating Systems group and focuses on physics, electrical engineering, RF systems, and accelerator technology.
The successful candidate will work on the simulation, design, and construction of fast ferroelectric tuners for 800-MHz superconducting RF cavities to compensate microphonics, study integration into the PERLE ERL Demonstrator and FCC-ee accelerators, and perform bench testing and demonstration at the HZB HoBiCaT test facility.
Eligibility highlights: a doctoral degree in physics, electrical engineering, or a related field; at least 2 years of FE-FRT cavity tuner experience; at least 2 years of superconducting RF experience; at least 5 years of RF systems and testing experience; extensive RF simulation skills; mechanical design experience is desirable; strong English communication skills (C1); willingness to travel and coordinate international collaborations; project management skills.
Application materials: motivation letter in English, CV, and contact details for two references. Deadline: 30 October 2026.
