About this position
Aarhus University is inviting applications for a Postdoc in GPR6 neurobiology and translational neuroscience at the Department of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Health in Denmark. The position is based in the Translational Neuropsychiatry Unit and is linked to the Preclinical Neuroimaging section led by Associate Professor Anne M. Landau.
The project focuses on GPR6 neurobiology, striatal signalling, dopamine-related brain function, and the role of GPR6 as a potential therapeutic target for depression. The research combines rodent behavioural neuroscience, preclinical PET imaging, quantitative receptor autoradiography, RNAscope, Western blotting, and immunohistochemistry. A particular interest in stress-related behavioural models, especially chronic social defeat stress, is highlighted as valuable.
The postdoc will conduct independent research, design and analyse behavioural experiments in rodents, contribute to PET studies, and perform molecular and tissue-based analyses. The role also includes manuscript preparation, presentations, collaboration across disciplines, and possible teaching or student supervision.
Applicants should hold a PhD in neuroscience, pharmacology, biomedical science, or a related field. Required experience includes rodent handling, behavioural testing, experimental design, quantitative data analysis, and familiarity with molecular or histological methods relevant to the project. Strong English communication skills are expected. Experience with preclinical PET, radioligand binding, genetically modified mouse models, and dopamine/striatal signalling will strengthen the application.
This is a fixed-term full-time position for two years. The application deadline is 2026-10-09. Applications must be submitted through Aarhus University’s recruitment system, and incomplete applications will not be assessed.

What's required
PhD level qualification in neuroscience, pharmacology, biomedical science or a related discipline; experience in experimental neuroscience, especially behavioural studies in rodents; practical experience with rodent handling, behavioural testing, experimental design and quantitative data analysis; experience with molecular or histological methods such as PET, autoradiography, RNAscope or other in situ hybridisation methods, Western blotting and immunohistochemistry; ability to work independently, document experiments carefully, and communicate findings in publications and presentations; fluent oral and written English. Experience with chronic social defeat stress is particularly desirable, and preclinical PET, radioligand binding, genetically modified mouse models, dopamine/striatal signalling, and laboratory animal science training are advantageous.
How to apply
Submit the application through Aarhus University’s recruitment system via the job advertisement on the university website. Ensure all required application materials are included before the deadline, as incomplete applications will not proceed.
