About this position

PhD fellowship at the Center for Translational Neuromedicine, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, in the Division of Cell and Gene Therapy (Goldman lab).

The project is on stem cell immunoavoidance and the development of stem cell-derived neural and neuroendocrine progenitor cells, including pancreatic beta cells and CNS glia. The lab emphasizes neural and glial cell biology, neurobiology, neuroendocrinology, and translational applications in neuromedicine.

This is a 3-year PhD fellowship starting 1 January 2027 or after agreement. The position is full-time and located at the Panum Institute in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Supervisor: Professor Steven Goldman ([email protected]).

Eligibility highlights: a master’s degree in neurobiology or neuroendocrinology is required, along with coursework in neuroimmune mechanisms and substantial technical experience. Strong hands-on experience with human neural and/or beta cell biology, pluripotent stem cell maintenance, iPSC differentiation, small animal surgery, histology, and confocal imaging is required. Experience with single-cell RNA-seq, epigenetic profiling, and pancreatic islet functional assays is highly desirable. English language skills are also expected.

Funding: salary begins at approximately 27,800 DKK/month plus pension, depending on seniority.

Application deadline: 12 October 2026, 23:59 CET. Apply online through the university portal and upload a motivation letter, CV, certified MSc diploma and transcript, and publication list if available.
