About this position

Aarhus University is advertising a Postdoc in kidney receptor biology at the Department of Biomedicine, Faculty of Health in Denmark. The project focuses on receptor-mediated endocytosis in kidney proximal tubule cells and how it contributes to proteinuria-induced kidney injury and chronic kidney disease.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic and international research group working at the intersection of renal physiology, endocytic receptor biology, epithelial cell biology, and translational kidney research. The work combines molecular and cellular biology, mouse models, advanced imaging, and omics approaches to uncover disease mechanisms and identify new therapeutic strategies.

Typical responsibilities include independent research, in vivo experiments with transgenic mouse models, in vitro kidney cell culture studies, and molecular/biochemical/histological methods such as immunohistochemistry, ELISA, Western blotting, and qRT-PCR. The postdoc will also analyze and present data, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and contribute to supervision of Bachelor’s and Master’s students.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a PhD and preferably have a background in medicine, molecular medicine, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, physiology, or a related field. Experience with mouse work is important; FELASA-B or equivalent is an advantage. Strong English skills, independence, teamwork, and a publication track record or strong publication potential are expected.

The position is full-time and fixed-term for 19 months. The deadline is 23 October 2026. Applications must be submitted through Aarhus University’s recruitment system. Required documents include a motivated application, CV, diploma, postdoc template, publication list, and teaching portfolio; optional uploads include up to five key publications, a research plan, coauthor statements, and references.
