About this position
Chalmers University of Technology is offering a postdoctoral position in Mission-Critical Resilience for 6G Transport Networks within the Division of Communications, Antennas and Optical Networks at the Department of Electrical Engineering in Gothenburg, Sweden. You will work in the group led by Professor Paolo Monti, whose research interests include transport network design, resilience, and AI-driven network automation for 5G and 6G infrastructures. The research agenda includes designing and optimizing resilience mechanisms, estimating disruption risk, proactive reconfiguration, autonomous recovery, self-healing, and graceful degradation. Machine learning may be used where it strengthens the proposed methods.
The postdoc is intended for candidates with a doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Communication Networks, or a related field. Strong experience in communication and transport network design, network resilience or survivability, network optimization, Python or similar programming, mathematical optimization, network modelling, and machine learning for networking is expected. Good English communication skills are required, and some teaching experience or teaching potential is desirable. More specialized experience in 5G/6G transport, Xhaul, network slicing, SDN, simulation tools, reliability metrics, and advanced ML techniques such as reinforcement learning or graph neural networks will strengthen an application.
The appointment is a temporary full-time postdoctoral employment for two years with the possibility of a one-year extension. The position requires physical presence throughout the employment. Chalmers notes that a valid residence permit must be in place by the start date.
