About this position

Chalmers University of Technology is offering a postdoctoral position focused on modeling the large-scale effects of electrifying powertrains in road-based freight. The research emphasizes vehicle-to-system analysis: building mathematically sound tools that connect vehicle characteristics to national CO2 emission impacts, and using statistical relations and optimal control to scale models from individual trucks to regional or national transport systems.

This postdoc is suitable for candidates with a doctoral degree in applied mathematics, electrical engineering, transport engineering, industrial engineering, applied physics, or a related field. A strong background in dynamic systems, optimal control, and mathematical statistics is especially valued. The position also expects documented research and education experience, an ability to teach and supervise, and strong English communication skills.

Responsibilities include developing and analyzing models for freight electrification, producing publishable research, presenting at conferences and workshops, collaborating with academic, industrial, and public-sector partners, and contributing to teaching and student supervision. The appointment is a temporary full-time position for two years with a possible one-year extension. Physical presence is required for the full duration of the employment.
