About this position
Postdoc opportunity at Aarhus University, Denmark in remote sensing, ecosystem resilience, ecology, biodiversity, and landscape analysis.
The Department of Biology, Section for Ecoinformatics and Biodiversity (ECOINF), is seeking applications for a 2-year postdoctoral position focused on satellite time series and the analysis of how ecosystems respond to environmental stressors and disturbances such as droughts and floods. The project aims to develop satellite-based indicators of ecosystem resilience across natural, semi-natural, and agricultural landscapes, with a particular emphasis on fine spatial scales such as individual fields, forests, and grasslands.
The postdoc will work with Prof. Fabian Daniel Schneider and collaborate with Prof. Signe Normand. The research is linked to the Center for Landscape Research in Sustainable Agricultural Futures (Land-CRAFT) and will contribute to understanding sustainability in Danish and global agricultural systems.
Applicants should have a PhD in ecology, Earth system science, geography, biology, or a related field, plus experience in geospatial/statistical analysis of remote sensing and ecological data, programming in R/Python, land cover and land-use change, multispectral and multi-scale remote sensing, and ecosystem/biodiversity science. Strong English communication skills are required. A B driver’s license is an advantage.
The position is full-time and fixed-term from 1 March 2027 to 28 February 2029. Salary and employment conditions follow Danish collective agreements. Applicants must submit an English application including a CV, degree certificate, publication list, future research plans, teaching portfolio, and a short 1–2 page project proposal.
Deadline: 3 November 2026, 23:59 CET. Apply via Aarhus University’s recruitment system.
