About this position
NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory is hiring a postdoctoral researcher to work on the Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) mission and its applications to river hydrology.
The project focuses on retrieving river flow velocity from SWOT observations, understanding how flood waves propagate through river networks, and improving methods for river discharge estimation and flood forecasting.
The selected postdoc will work with Dr. Cédric David and Renato P. M. Frasson at NASA JPL in Pasadena, California.
This opportunity is especially relevant for candidates with interests in satellite hydrology, remote sensing, environmental science, earth science, river dynamics, and computational retrieval methods.
A Ph.D. is required by the start of the appointment. The preferred start date is January 2027.
Applicants should prepare a cover letter, a CV with publication list, and contact details for three professional references.
The position remains open for a minimum of 20 days and will stay open until a successful candidate is identified.
