About this position

Aarhus University is advertising a 3-year postdoctoral position in Soil Ecotoxicology within the Department of Ecoscience at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, based in Aarhus, Denmark.

The project focuses on the fate and effects of contaminants in soil ecosystems, with research on adsorption/desorption, mobility, leaching, trophic transfer, and ecological impacts of emerging and conventional contaminants such as PFAS, microplastics, metals, biochar, digestate, and sewage sludge. The role includes experimental work with soil systems and organisms, environmental risk assessment, and collaboration in interdisciplinary national and international research teams.

Applicants should hold a PhD in environmental science, ecotoxicology, ecology, soil science, or a related field. Strong experimental and/or analytical experience in environmental systems is expected. Interest in soil fauna ecology (earthworms, springtails, mites) is preferred, and knowledge of taxonomy or eDNA approaches is an advantage. Strong English communication skills are required.

The position is fixed-term, full-time, with an expected start date of 1 December 2026 and a duration until 1 December 2029. Salary is according to Danish collective agreements and seniority; no specific stipend amount is listed.
