About this position
This postdoctoral position is offered by the Communication Systems (COS) Division at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, under the leadership of Prof. Emil Björnson, as part of the international 6GSTAR research project. The project is a collaboration between KTH, Northeastern University (USA), and the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), and is closely linked with major European research initiatives such as DICE-6G, SMART-6GSAT, and SweWIN.
The successful candidate will join the TERANET@KTH research lab and work with a diverse team of academic and industrial partners, including Ericsson. The research focus is on the design and development of next-generation Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite communication systems that utilize the sub-terahertz (100 GHz – 300 GHz) spectrum for extremely high-rate mobile wireless links. The postdoc will have opportunities for international collaboration, including research visits to partner labs in Europe, the USA, and Singapore.
The role involves coordinating research activities within the 6GSTAR project, leading international collaborations, publishing in top-tier journals and conferences, and mentoring MSc and PhD students. The position is for up to two years, full-time, and offers a monthly salary. Applicants must have a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Communications Engineering, or a closely related field, with a strong research record in wireless communications, networking, or optimization.
Preferred candidates will have obtained their PhD within the last three years, possess strong English communication skills, and demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Experience in industry R&D and mentoring students is a plus. Expertise in areas such as LEO satellite communications, beamforming, MIMO algorithms, millimeter wave and terahertz communications, channel modeling, and network coexistence is highly valued. KTH is committed to equality, diversity, and providing a supportive environment for professional growth.
The application deadline is November 26, 2025. For more information and to apply, visit the provided application link or contact Prof. Vitaly Petrov at [email protected].
