About this position

Postdoctoral researcher position at the University of Groningen in the Advanced Production Engineering (APE) research group, within the Engineering and Technology Institute Groningen (ENTEG), Faculty of Science and Engineering.

The project focuses on sustainable ZnAlMg-X alloy coatings for green steel applications. Research topics include coating design and development, interface adhesion, formability, corrosion resistance, cracking resistance, and removability for recycling. The postdoc will work on hot-dipped ZnAlMg-X alloy coatings on green steel substrates and study how green steel affects coating performance.

This is a 3-year postdoc opening with a full-time 1.0 FTE appointment. Salary is €4,251–€4,925 gross per month under the Dutch university collective labor agreement, with additional benefits including vacation hours, an end-of-year bonus, and holiday allowance. The position is initially for one year with a possible extension of two years.

Applicants should have a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering or a closely related field. A background in metallurgy, galvanization, corrosion science, materials characterization, and coating technology is strongly preferred. Strong English communication skills, independence, creativity, and collaborative ability are required.
