About this position
Postdoctoral position at the University of Twente, Netherlands
This opening is for a Postdoc in experimental analysis and control of induction welding for thermoplastic composites. The project focuses on lightweight transport structures, thermoplastic composite manufacturing, fusion bonding, real-time robust model predictive control, in-situ process monitoring, and physics-based AI meta-models for industrial-scale assembly.
The successful candidate will work on collecting experimental evidence of heat generation using a robot and induction heating coil, extracting material and process parameters from experiments, and validating efficient control schemes for thermoplastic composite structures. The work is embedded in a broader ENLIGHTEN collaboration involving academic and industrial partners.
Eligibility highlights: a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; experience with experimental methods and data acquisition systems such as LabView; strong Python programming skills; good written and spoken English; ability to work across disciplines; independence and responsibility. Experience with finite element libraries and numerical methods is a plus.
