About this position

Postdoctoral Research Position at Mahidol University, Thailand

The CFD & Energy Research Group in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University is urgently seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher for a project on “Investigation of Aerodynamic Interactions in Vertical-Axis Wind Turbines Using CFD, Wind-Tunnel Experiments, and Artificial Intelligence.”

This opportunity focuses on vertical-axis wind turbines (VAWTs), computational fluid dynamics, ANSYS Fluent, dynamic mesh, wind-tunnel experiments, AI/ML optimization, transient wake interactions, turbine spacing and 3D arrangements, and power generation under urban and low-wind-speed conditions.

Eligibility: Applicants should already hold a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a closely related field. Experience with ANSYS Fluent, especially dynamic mesh simulations, is strongly preferred. Background in VAWTs, transient CFD, experimental aerodynamics, Python/C++, AI/ML, optimization, or HPC is an advantage.

Funding: The initial appointment is for 1 year with an approximate salary of THB 35,000/month. Extension may be possible depending on future grant funding. The position includes access to CFD/HPC and wind-tunnel facilities and offers opportunities for international collaboration and high-impact publications.

Application: Interested candidates should email their CV, academic transcript, publication list, and a brief statement of research interests and relevant experience to the contact email provided. Interviews are expected by September 2026, with the position starting thereafter. The closure date is 2026-10-01.
