About this position

University of Vienna is advertising a Postdoc / University Assistant position in the Faculty of Chemistry, based at the Institute of Physical Chemistry in the Chemical Sensors and Rapid Analysis research group.

The project centers on chemical sensors, sensor technology, and assays using molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs). The group works on biomimetic sensors, combining fundamental materials research with applications that move MIPs closer to commercial use. The environment is multidisciplinary, connecting materials science, analytical and physicochemical principles, nanomicroscopy, electrochemistry, mass-sensitive measurement technology, and molecular spectroscopy.

This is a postdoctoral opening for 3 years. The role includes independent research profile development, participation in research projects on (solid-phase synthesized) molecularly imprinted polymers, international publishing and conference presentations, project acquisition and third-party funding applications, teaching, evaluation and quality assurance, and administrative duties in research and teaching.

Eligibility highlights: completed PhD in Chemistry, excellent dissertation, knowledge of chemical sensing, and excellent English (C1). Helpful extras include research management experience, leadership experience, e-learning or teaching skills, IT skills such as Office, data analysis or Python, teamwork and communication skills, knowledge of MIP synthesis and characterization, basic German, and experience in mass-sensitive sensing.

Funding: salaried university employment with a gross full-time salary of EUR 5,014.30 (14x/year), adjusted for recognized prior experience. The contract is part-time at 20 hours/week and runs until 30 September 2029.

What's required
