About this position

TU Delft is recruiting a Postdoc Position in Conceptualizing Nature-Driven Facades within the NWO project Nature 4 homes. The project addresses overheating in existing dwellings, with a focus on affordable, acceptable, and effective nature-driven building skin / façade solutions that can improve health and reduce cooling energy demand.

The postdoc will work on foundational research around the conceptualization of nature-driven building skin characteristics. This includes defining the overall concept, building a structured database, refining key performance indicators (KPIs), and developing protocols across disciplines. The role also involves scientific publications, project deliverables, workshops, and interviews with consortium partners.

A major part of the work is bridging academic concepts with professional and societal perspectives through interviews and co-design workshops. The project explicitly prepares integration of citizen science approaches with living lab studies, using surveys, physiological and psychological measurements, monitoring of thermal conditions and biodiversity, and modelling.

The position is based at the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, in the section Environmental and Climate Design at Delft University of Technology. The postdoc will collaborate with researchers from Urbanism and Materials and Environment at TU Delft, as well as TU Eindhoven (Human Technology Interaction), Radboudumc (Integrative Physiology), and Wageningen University and Research (Meteorology).

Eligibility highlights: PhD in building engineering, meteorology, civil engineering, or a related field; strong interest in the built environment and climate change; collaboration and co-creation experience; Dutch language proficiency is a plus.

Funding and terms: temporary employment for 18 months, 32-38 hours per week, salary range €3546-€5538, with standard Dutch university employment benefits.

Deadline: 29 September 2026. The selected candidate is expected to start on 1 December 2026.
