About this position

Goethe University Frankfurt is advertising a Postdoc / Research Scientist in Neurovascular Biology in the team of Jasmin Hefendehl. The project sits at the interface of neuroscience, neurovascular biology, Alzheimer’s disease, stroke, and neuroimmunology, with a strong experimental focus on how blood vessels, immune cells, and neurons interact when the brain is diseased.

The successful candidate will work with primary cell and co-culture models, transgenic mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease and photothrombotic stroke, FACS of brain immune cells, confocal imaging, and in vivo two-photon microscopy. The role includes running independent research projects, mentoring PhD, Master’s, and Bachelor’s students, contributing to grant applications, and teaching introductory neuroscience to Bachelor’s students.

This is a 3-year E13 TV-G-U position with the option of a permanent contract. Applicants should hold a PhD in neuroscience, biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, or a related field. Required experience includes primary mammalian cell culture, mouse models of neurovascular or neurodegenerative disease, fluent German (C1 or higher), and very good English. Helpful extras include intravital imaging, FACS, animal study design, and publications in neuroinflammation or neurodegeneration.

Deadline: 16 November 2026. Apply by sending a single PDF (cover letter, CV with full publication list, 2–3 references, and certificates; max. 8 MB) to [email protected] and [email protected].
